Has thomas gone? we haven't been told that!!

MCC THROUGH N THROUGH

Woud be very interesting to see if Thomas has left Murton as far as i was aware he said that he would be stopping at Murton and would possibly helping to find replacments for Joe and Calvin. With watching Murton over the years i would imagine that it would be hard to find replacements as they are two very good cricketers especially Calvin. Good luck to Joe and Calvin next season.
PS How will Joe fit his run up on Bil Quay's ground.?

Unfortunately We thought Thomas was staying, but he informed me yesterday that he is joining Castle Eden, with the "promise of opening the batting and doing some bowling". Castle Eden are wanting to join The Senior League and he states he wants to be part of that. We are very disappointed because we were hoping to build a new team around Thomas, but it looks as though Cal's powers of persuasion are greater than ours. We wish Tom good luck and hope the promises are fulfilled. There is a meeting at the Club tomorrow night and if anybody is interested in joining Murton please let us know.

juniorsthe juniors have been a problem at murton for the last five or six years, nearly every junior that lives in murton are playing at either seaham park or easington so how is it goin to be possible to get them to move away from two good clubs to a club that has no junior teams? is there even goin to be a under 18s side this year?
|
Suggestion
|
Murton JuniorsThe only and proven way you are going to get juniors to form and start again after such a long time is, to take your coaches into the schools in Murton who are working with 9/10/11yr olds and offer to take cricket sessions within the school.
Some Heateachers will accept the offer as there are no sports on the curriculum [healthy excersise] and it looks good when the offsted inspectors come around. [community involement]
By commencing at an early age you would be creating an interest and outlet for these youngsters who would be with the club for possibly the next 8/9 years.
Just a suggestion !

there are loads of kids that will play cricket over at murton there are 2 schools full but no one has the time to go up and talk to people it will take years to get junior teams back at murton. i think there will be an under 18s team this year but non of the juniors have herd anything about nets or anything with the season been as close as it is.

The information about nets has been available in the Club since they started. They are held at Houghton Kepier School on a Sunday 2pm till 4pm and all are welcome. The Club would also welcome any assistance from anyone to visit the schools and try and encourage juniors. The difficulty is the few people who are on the Committee or are keen for juniors all work during the day. As interest about nobody knowing last year we sent out something like 60 letters to juniors informing about nets etc and 7 occasionally turned up

sow ill there be any junior teams at murton this year? and instead of paying all the first team how cant murton take someone on to go into schools from DCC? sure it wouldnt be that hard would it?.
|
mcc chairman

Whoever guest is, he should get his facts right Murton are paying no players this year. I would love to know where people who haven't got a clue what's going on get all this crap from that they spout off. Why don't you name yourself or come to the club and let us know where you get your information from

At the moment we seem as though we have not got enough juniors, we are attempting to find some more players

i know a few juniors that are willing to play for murton this year if someone would take half an hour to ring around and ask if they are willing to play there would be at least 15 players that will play. i can guarantee once the season has started all the juniors will want a team and it will be to late. what is going to happen to the juniors that play in the second team?

Greg Arundle is the man you need to speak to, no point coming on here giving it large then calling yourself ---------. Contact Les Graham on here or at the club

i am not directly involved with the juniors this year, primarily because we dont have enough players, i'm still involved with coaching and would be happy to do some as and when, but if the man with no name wants to provide the club with contact numbers then so be it.
the juniors is a cause for concern but unfortunatley i cant dedicate the time to getting into schools, running training etc due to work commitments. as said previously, at last count we had 7 u18's that defo wanted to play, but you need a squad of at least 14, to take into account hols, availability etc, no name if you want to make sure theres a team, gather your troops and head down to nets on either a tues or thurs night, without that commitment i'm afraid there wont be a junior section this year!!!

Greg don't rise to the bait mate.
Same old story, lads want to play but can't be bothered to attend nets, heard it all before.
"Mr Guest", its no good saying you & your merry bunch of lay-a-bouts will want to play "later in the season", you need to be there for pre-season mate instead of smashing the football field & the park to bits.

If this is the case about juniors please get in touch with the club and let us know as soon as possible we have been trying to find out but did not have sufficient names
